What your legal team will ask, and what we answer
Connected-vehicle data is personal data the moment it can be tied to a driver. Here is our answer, before your DPO has to ask.
The data is the customer's, and the law says so
Since 12 September 2025 the EU Data Act gives vehicle owners and lessees the right to access the data their connected vehicles generate and to designate a third party to receive it. Linkbycar operates as that designated third party. You can revoke the designation, and your data stays portable if you change providers.
How the Data Act applies to your fleetHosted in the European Union
Vehicle data, account data and analytics are stored and processed in the EU. The website's own analytics run on PostHog's EU instance in Frankfurt, behind an explicit opt-in, with no advertising trackers and no data sale.
Cookies and analyticsConsent is managed per driver, not assumed
Activation includes informing drivers and collecting their consent. Signing a fleet contract does not connect a vehicle. We connect it once the consent chain for that vehicle is in place.
You decide who sees what
You control which data is visible to whom. That matters in works-council negotiations, in public-sector procurement, and anywhere a driver-representative body has a say in what a fleet manager can see.
Access is scoped and revocable
API access uses scoped tokens with least-privilege reads, so an integration or an automated agent gets the access it needs and nothing more. Keys are issued per environment and can be revoked without touching the fleet.
One processor between you and the vehicle
The data comes from the manufacturer or from our own box. We do not resell a data broker's feed, so the list of parties that handle your vehicles' data is short and we can tell you who they are.
For procurement and security review
Ask for the security pack
We would rather answer this in one document than across six emails. Tell us who is reviewing and what framework they work to, and we send the pack the same week.

Nothing to fit on compatible vehicles
Compatible vehicles are activated remotely.* No workshop visit, no fitting, and no vehicle off the road.
No commitment
You keep the vehicle-by-vehicle answer whether or not you go further with us.
* Activation time depends on the manufacturer and can take up to 48 hours.
Request received.
We come back to you within 48 hours to set up the demo. Send us your plates or VINs and we tell you what each vehicle can report. If it is urgent, reply to the confirmation email and a person reads it.
